Hey we got to set a example don't we!
Seem like a lot of high profile things are getting a lot of punishment these days but some cases are justifiable. I wonder if she is convicted in Austrailia or Indonesia? She'll probably get off on an apeal.

I remember when she got arrested.....

I would have to admit that life in prison is really severe, but if youre gonna do dumb stuff like smuggle drugs into another country, you should check on these things first. As the old saying goes, if youre gonna do the crime, then you gotta prepare to do the time.

I wonder if Indonesia has a drug problem?.....I should hope penalties like death would deter people!

Interesting to note that other countries are serious about their laws, and enforce them. Keeps the riff-raf out!

Remember the "caneing" of the American youngster a few years ago in Singapore for vandalizing a few cars in his school's parking lot? Bet he won't do that again!

On the other side, the 12 year old who killed the 6 year old girl by jumping on her a few times in Ft. Lauderdale a few years ago is now 18. He was released last year from prison, and last week was arrested for robbing a Pizza dude. Gee, I wonder if he'll do that again......and again......and again when he gets out in a few years.

Who knows - that judge could be in on the whole thing as well. The judges here in America aren't that honest either you know . . . .

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time!!! If you want so be in this type of industry, these are the chances you take. A cop goes to work every day knowing there is a chance he/she could be shot, but he/she does it anyway. She tried to do what she chose as a career and got caught. Some people get shot and some go to jail for smuggling. It’s all part of the jobs we choose. She got caught, so what? Did the price of pot just go up? It’s just another bleeding heart story like the examples above. Don’t tell me she didn’t know it was illegal and she had no idea what could happen if she got caught.

Having moved here to Australia a while ago, I can tell you that that case is ALL over the news here. It's really wierd too because apparently, they claim she was smuggling it into Bali, when in fact, it was worth so much more $$$ in Oz than there? And it wasn't hidden well either so.... Guess it's a lesson about travelling to certain destinations. The news also made mention of the fact that if she appeals, she may in fact get a worse sentence than 20 years because that judge was known for being "lax." 20 years was the minimum and death was what was initially to order. The appealling judge may not agree with that 20 year sentence and may even increase it.

                  Cheers,
                  Steve

On CNN they had a clip of a guy let out of prisson in NC after serving 35 years for stealing a black and white TV. He applied for paroll 26 times the lawer who picked up this case asked why he wasnt parolled earlyer and they couldnt say why....this stuff happens everywhere but because of the media attention she will eather get out of it or get it served in Australia then Parolled early or something.
