Well, I ended up not buying the Freak or Freak 98. I bought the new Mega Maniac 585. It just came out today. I hope it's worth the $300+. It supposedly has the same pop as the Freak Plus, but with a better feel. If you're interested, I'll let you know how well it performs/feels as soon as I get it.

Yea, it's banned in the ASA leagues. Since I'm in ASA coed, I don't need that kind of power. The USSSA league I'm in allows it, http://www.usssa.com/usssa/usssa-gen...lBatsMiken.asp

good call man that is a sweet bat though one of the guys on our rec team has one and they have some pop after the break in period for sure man

Sweet, I really can't wait to use it. Hopefully, it won't take too many hits to break in. Playoffs are next week!

i know his took about 75 to 100 shots before we really started noticin them fly
jsut have a BP and let other guys use it and it should do the trick

I play slow pitch (beer league ) and a bat that almost all teams seem to be using is the Synergy bats. I think their made by Easton. I think there are a couple that are banned (at least in our league) but there is two or three that you can use. Our team hit like crap last year and the beggining of this year, with no home runs and few triples and doubles. In the 10-12 games that we've had this new bat, one guy has 8 home runs (315 fence) and we've probably added at least 3-5 more runs per game. Good bat. I found this website searching for the bat.

OK, I tried the Maniac 585. Oh my goodness, that's gotta be the most powerful stick I could hit it one handed, efforlessly 250 Everything goes to the fence, at least. That thing is a monster, and it's not even broken in yet!
No matter where you hit the ball with the bat, it never stings, and jumps off. Hitting the ball at the very end of this bat is just has powerful as the sweet spot of my Demarini Doublewall Distance Definitely worth the money!
