  • Got spanked :(

I was coming home from a movie tonight (longest yard, awsome movie) and I caught a SRT-4 at a red so I figured what the heck. We both hit it at the same time and I spun my tires all the way through first then my stupid auto tranny shifted into second and I fell on my face. Needless to say he started pulling in second so I just shut it down and caught up with him and said good race. I should have put it in first and shifted to second myself but didn't think about it, it happend pretty fast.

Anyway, after my spanking, like most people, it got me thinking about upgrades. My tires are pretty bald so I'm in the market for some new ones, anyone have any suggestions for some semi race/street tires that are not to expensive? I was also thinking about rims, mabey 18's so I can fill out my wheel well a little more.

But just thought I would share that with you guys, SRT-4's really aren't that fast. But they are fast enough to get you if you mess up.

P.S. Does N20 smell like farts when you spray it?

I drove my buddies brand new SRT-4 just yesterday and I have to say I am pretty impressed......for a neon it moves pretty good......probably a low 14 sec car.

actualy, bald tire get the best dry traction, especially worn ones, because the undertread is softer rubber than the surface tread... now, if they are old, and you spun them alot, it could be a different story..the rubber could be too hard now due to the heat.

i had one of those cars try and pull me on the interstate yesterday. guy must have been on drugs.....

Yeah, but a 3rd gen with an LT1 should be in the 13s... a buddy of mine has an IROC with an LT1 and he lays down low 13s with it.

You are exactly right on the tire thing. I'm due for some tires right now and they're so bald and heat-baked, it's like the pavement is always wet.

About that guy on the interstate . . . it's gonna take a while for the GTO reputation to become known - most people out here in Texas have no idea what the GTO's are capable of. I regularly see ricers line up for a quick-spank via GTO paddle. It's fun to watch . . . . .

I cannot even imagine how hard those SRT4s are to launch correctly. I had one that wanted to play at a stop light - temp tags stock wheels and exhaust - but it did have a BOV. He was throwing a bunch of revs at me - showing off his BOV. I had my wife and a friend with me so I resisted - although it tore me up inside

My buddy has one with exhaust, BOV and boost controller. It is a very impressive car. From a launch I ate him alive, but from a roll on the highway we were pretty damn even. He even pulled me a bit when we first punched it, damn automatic (I wanna T56).
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up and totally worn out, loudly proclaiming......WOW WHAT A RIDE!!!

Minus bolt-ons like headers and exhuast, yes... stock internally, or so he claims...

Yeah mine are old as well as bald, I doubt it played to much into him beating me.. it was more my fault for not dropping it into first.

OK, well then I'll thrash the next 5 SRTs that I see. I'll destroy them and regain the lost F-body honor.
