  • NFB: National Corvette Museum

Got the May/June issue of America's Sports Car magazine, published by the National Corvette Museum. A couple of superficial articles related to the Z06 and the C6-R. Included a couple of pic's of a new Z06 finished in "Machine Silver"...... my new lust.

When I got to the back of the mag, they had a list of membership anniversaries, and I was surprised to find my name under the "Fifteen Year Anniversary" column. I joined the Museum as a "Founding Member", and I guess it must have been in 1990, when I still had dreams of owning a 1965 Fuelie convertible.

I've got to be the only member of the Museum who never owned a Corvette, and who never managed to visit the Museum. I guess I'll have to visit one of these days... there's supposed to be a brick there with my name on it.

Anyone else belong to the Museum? Anyone been there?

    Just rambling.....
    Fred

I went there when I went to Bowling Green in 1999 for the Impala SS convention. They have the only 1983 Corvette in the world in there, plus a lot of other weird vettes and one-offs. Nice place, but I'm not really a big vette fan. I was going to tour the plant, but didn't get up in time to do that. Me, Saturday, and anything before 11:00 just don't get along

Is machine ilver a dark silver color? Can younpost a pic? I was looking at a C6 at a local dealer - it is SOM and on their show room floor. I still cannot decide if I like that color or not. I have only seen 1 car in that color that I really liked (before the C6) and it was an 01 SS.

The Machine Silver looks like it might be a bit irridescent. In places it looks "medium" gray, and in others it lookd like the bright silver "extra cost" paint they used on the 63's. Further back in the mag there's an add for Courtesy Chevrolet, and they have a lineup of 8 C6's each in a different color. There is a silver/gray one there, but it looks sort of medium to dark silver.

I'll see if I can do a scan.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm starting to see more C6's every day. Seems like there are more of them on the road already than 4th Gen F-Bodies.
