  • Which Tire?

Which tire is better for my next purchase looking at these 2 cheap tires Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 (Performance Tire), or Falken Ziex ZR-512 (All Season Tire)? Both are 255-50WR-16.

I currently have the Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's on my car now there getting bald. (Getting new one's in November.)

they are both "off brands"...... with very poor treadwear and belt stabilization construction......

i have no comment. i would buy neither. they try to appeal with the fancy names and advertising of "whips and chains"........

    yuk.

Around here it seems that the popular tires are BFGoodrich KDW's and Firestone Firehawk SZ50's. Firestone has replaced the SZ50's with the Wide Oval. I just got a set on my car, but haven't really pused them at all, so I can't comment yet. The SZ50 was truly a great performance tire. They wore out a little quickly for me though. Firestone has an $88 rebate on the Wide Oval's till June 4. Tirerack.com carries them for $110 I believe.

I don't think I would like them. Then my tires wouldn't spin from a dead stop probably. I like to be loose at times. (More fun.) Then always getting traction.

I had a set of Kuhmo's on my Lumina Z34 a few years back. With about 1,500 miles on them, the belts shifted in both fronts. It felt like the tires were never balanced. After getting two new ones, one of the new fronts did it again, along with one of the rears.

I pay a little more now in order to get a quality brand.... even on my daily driver.
