how heavy is the one you are looking at??? I was thinking of getting a lighter hood but wasn't sure about the safety issues plus I wanted one that looked like the stock TA hood.
97 TA, M6, JBA ceramic coated headers, Borla Cat-back exhaust, 1.6 RR, 160 Thermo, LT4 knock sensor, CAI, Bils, Hotchkis all around, GT rotors, B&M shifter, Magnecor wires, Granatelli MAF
In the shop LT4 Intake and heads.
I've got a question, what happens to the hood if the car it is on is in a head on accident? Does it break? I thought the carbon fiber was apt to not break. Would it go back and act like a knife to the drivers head?
2002 Electron Blue Vette, 1SC, FE3/Z51, G92 3.15 gears, 308.9 RWHP 321.7 RWTQ (before any mods), SLP headers, Z06 exhaust, MSD Ignition Wires, AC Delco Iridium Spark Plugs, 160 t-stat, lots of ECM tuning
Funny you put it that way. Thats sort of what I was getting at when I mentioned safety. Like is the stock hood designed to "crumple" where the Carbon hood would just swing back in one big piece?

I've seen some accidents involving carbon fiber hoods and fiberglass hoods. Both just crush or crack apart- Most f-body drivers should be more concerned with being t-boned or rear-ending a pick-up - either of the two you're likely to get hurt . . . . so BE CAREFUL!
