I have a question ... it says it is a 427 .... and an LT1 also get 427 or is it something about the LS1 that gets you there?

I'm not sure I quite understand. The 427 is in reference to how many cubic inches the LS7 motor is. Our LT1's are 350's...err...or actually 346's or something like that.
black 95 t/a, a4, beefed up tranny w/ higher stall converter, transgo shift kit, trans temp gauge, trans cooler, richmond 3.73's, loudmouth, hypertech programmer, 160 thermo, descreened maf, TB bypass and airfoil, trick flow intake elbow, underdrive pulleys, moroso cai, edelbrock panhard rod, bmr stb, slp sfc's, fiberglass firehawk hood, hawk pads, taylor wires, ngk plugs, royal purple fluids,...and hopefully more to come

its a different block. Its bigger than the LS2... it has a 4.13 X 4.00 bore and stroke. I think taking an LT1 to 396 is taking it to its limit for block integrity but what do i know

              Stock LT1 = 350 cubic inches / 4.000" bore x 3.480" stroke
              Stock LS1(5.7) = 346 cubic inches / 3.898" bore x 3.622" stroke
              Stock LS2(6.0) = 364 cubic inches / 4.000" bore x 3.622" stroke
              Stock C5R/LS7 = 427 cubic inches / 4.125" bore x 4.000" stroke

Dark ... thats what I was getting at .. or wondering ....I know the 427 was the cubies .. but I wasn't sure how they got there. Or better said... I wasn't aware of the differences between an LT1 and this 7.0 LS2. On one level I just figured .. heck they are both built around the same basic stuff but I only heard of a LT1 getting to 396 so I figured something must be different. I guess my question wasn't worded the best.

I thought you were asking how to do that with an LT1 or an LS1

Here is how you figure displacement (man I'm bored today ):

Displacement Volume = pi x cylinder bore radius² x # of cylinders

                    Forgot to include radius....oops

The LT1 is a completely different everything from the LS7 ...

The LS1, LS6, LS2, and LS7 blocks are all relatively similar, however...

The pysical size of the LS2/LS1/LS6/LS7 blocks should all be the same.
