Well I decided to do the conversion to Windows XP Pro x64 edition. Went really smooth an All the drivers were available for my hardware. So far I like it and it seems to boot faster than before. It runns all my games exactly the same as before, but I should see some gain in speed later as drivers are better developed to take advantage of the 64 bit hardware. I did manage to find a 64 bit Firefox version which work well. So far I havent found any software that I cant run in the 32 bit mode. All in all I am happy so far. Just for anyone wondering what I have in my machine:
Thermaltake Xaser III Case
OCZ 510 watt modular power supply
Asus P5ad2-E Premioum MotherBoard
Intel Pentium 4 640
2 Gig Corsair DDR2
Saphire Radeon X850 XT 256 meg
Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS
2 Western Digital 740 Raptor's In RAID 0(striped)
LG DVD ROM
Pioneer Dual Layer DVD R/RW
If you have a 64 bit Processor I would recomend the change only if you like to play with bleeding edge stuff. There is bound to be hickups yet to come.
But I like that stuff
I guess we all kinda do if we like to mod cars
Oh and if any of you are running a legal copy of Windows XP Pro(32 bit) you can exchange it free(shipping not included) for XP Pro x64 edition. Orders for the Technology Advancement Program must be placed by July 31, 2005
