  • Monsoon blown speakers solution...

For all you 98+ Monsoon guys with blown door speakers, here's a great budget solution...My 98' had one and the 99 I just bought had one and then the other blew too. And no, I don't go around with the stereo blasting.

The speakers were $100. It took me 30 min to rewire the first speaker and 20 min to do the second. I took my time. I guess I have to say my '99 Camaro is no longer stock now. Oh, well

Anyway it sounds good and I have to say it's better than stock...and now no more worrying about blowing front speakers!

Not to sound too stupid, but why/what made them blow. Curious, as I don't crank my stereo, but want to avoid this prob. Is it the 500 Monsoon? I know you said '98+. Geez windows, speakers....what next? No matter, a small price to pay to drive the f-bod

BTW-I know someone who has hp envy and would like a Z-is your '96 still for sale? Also, the cops in my town call my car color "Ticket Me Red".

Apparently it's a fairly common problem. I think it's just the quality of the speakers. Personally, I prefered the Bose system in my '96 Camaro to the Monsoon of the 98+ cars. On a spec sheet the Monsoon has more speakers and higher output, but it just doesn't sound as nice, and my 96 never had speaker problems or quite as much distortion.
