You will need to keep the lock cylinder, so you can swap it into your replacement and not need a new key.

A friend of mine didn't notice his driver's side top was not latched (he has a full cage and the halo bar blocks his view of the handle).... he lost the top on the track, going about 120mpg, at the 1000-ft mark. I loaned him my top so he could keep running in the class. At least one of my T-tops has made a low 9-second, 140+MPH pass.
I wish I had left overs...but the picture shows everything I found. Everything else vaporized...seriously, I couldn't find anything else...not even the pieces of shaddered glass! I don't think the weather stripping isn't gonna be useful. It got ran over a few times...but if you want, Injuneer, I can send you what I have...just PM with your addy, I'll ship it to you free of charge. At least a part of my car can go fast...

It shouldn't be much to send to ya...just the weather stripping over the window and the rubber gormment around the glass...let me know. Maybe your can make it work.

      Slightly off topic,
My jeep wrangler had this strange thing where the hood would rest on top of the safety latch when the spring loaded latches on the side were removed.
Well one day the hood was unlatched and I hit 40 MPH and the hood flew up like a rocket while I was on a two lane road. I couldnt see a damn thing and was driving by the ceter line out the driver window to come to a stop while oncoming traffic was zooming by . The hood was damaged as well as the windshield frame. Needless to say a very scary situation. Now I drive paranoid that my hood is unlatched, I fixed the safety latch so it is far less likely of ever happening again. I did also hit interstate speeds once witrh the latches off again and the safety latch held like it should.
My Camaro is a rag top and once or twice I didnt have the top latched. Luckilly never any damage.

Just to tickle my fancy...I called a few dealers to see what they were offering.

I was about to give up on my first call.

          Lou Sobh - $1034.55 WTF?
Team Pontiac - $450.00 not bad
Carl Black - $424.94 + $125.00 what the heck is the $125 for?
          Marietta Pon-Bu-GMC - 424.94 <<< winner

But Billy said he would ship me the best one he could find...no scratches, like new. YAY

Got the trash bag and tape on there at the moment, it just started to pour out of no where!

Could you post some pics of the trash bag mod? I'm interested in knowing how might weight it reduced off your car and what the ET improvement was in the 1/4 mile.

Happened to my brother's old '97 Formula. This was when ebay didn't exist and he had to get it thru the dealer. Raped!

I did it with mine a few years ago. I feel your pain. Only mine was latched. Windows were cracked a little bit, heard a big noise then off it went. I had 2 shower curtains taped on there, red on the bottom, black on top. I played with the tape until i get it to where it would seal with the window and not leaked when it rained.

Just as i got done writing my response to this unfortunate event 2 hours later my Tops arrived . They were dirty but nothing a little windex and armorall couldn't fix. I had to keep my original driver top because the used one i bought off e bay leaked But, luckily i needed the passanger side so it all worked out in the end. Love not being afraid of the rain anymore and I can WASH IT. Hope your quest for a top comes quicker then mine. Good luck.
