  • 3rd gen and autometer placement

    Hey guys...

I have a 3rd gen road racer I am building and I have the fuel pressure and water temp guages still to install. Do you guys have any suggestions? I tried to find a prior thread on the water temp one but couldn't find it. I think someone mentioned that there is a place on the block for the water temp?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jorge

I'm sure I can help, but I need to know some more details. What year and engine are you dealing with? Are you wanting to keep the stock gauges?

      Good questions ..

It is an 87 IROC that I have a stock 350TPI from an 88-89 3rd gen automatic. I have NO stock guages. I took them out to save weight and upgrade to the Autometers. I fabricated my own cluster to house the guages.

      thanks ....

I'm pretty sure what you're looking for is on the driver side head between the first 2 exaust ports. I have an 89 TPI engine and thats where the temp sensor is.

on the head or block? .. I don't remember seeing a place on the head but I could have been to busy to focus on it...

Thats where mine is too! There is also the PCM water temp sensor in the front of the intake manifold base.

It's on the head. If it still has the factory sensor on it, it'll be sticking out the side of the head about 5/8 of an inch, and will have a single wire going to it.

ok I think i found it. Its between the first two plugs on the drivers side and I see the end where the single wire would go ...

                thanks guys ...

any suggestions for the fuel pressure guage? I guess I can just splice and put a t-connector.
