GREENVILLE, S.C. (June 7, 2005) — Michelin North America Inc. is launching the Riken Raptor ZR ultra-high-performance tire line, initially for Michelin’s Alliance dealers.
Michelin is rolling out the W-speed-rated line in June initially in 27 sizes in 16-, 17- and 18-inch fitments; the firm said it will follow in July with two 20-inch sizes.
The new tire is designed to compete in performance and price with other lower tier UHP tires, Michelin said, including Toyo/Nitto, Kumho, Falken, Hankook and Cooper.
The Riken Raptor ZR—which features a directional tread pattern—combines “cutting-edge” looks with high-performance design and construction designed to appeal to consumers looking for a high-quality performance tire at an affordable price, the Greenville-based tire maker said.
“This tire line is designed to provide our dealers with a tire that will deliver the right performance at the right price for the consumer looking to customize and improve the look and performance of their vehicle,” said Thom Peebles, brand director Riken Tires.
“We will continue to build Riken by introducing new sizes and new lines to provide our customers with the product they need to capitalize on the profitable lower price tier of the UHP market.”
