  • Head rests

I still have not figured out how to remove the headrests of my 99 Firebird. There are no screw holes in them to be found, no release levers etc. I have seatcovers I want to put on, before my seats get messed up. Dirt, doghair, etc. Anyone?

    1.Remove the seatback release knob.
2.Separate the J-retainers at the bottom of the seat.
3.Pull the seat cover past the head restraint posts.
4.Slide the J 39641 up the head restraint posts with the tool tabs

5.fitting into the open slots between the head restraint guide tabs.
6.With the headrest removal tools in place, rotate each tool so the head

    7.restraint guide tabs expand outward.
    8.Remove the head restraint (3).
9.Remove the shoulder belt guide screws (2), and the shoulder belt guide (1) if required

Its going to be hard considering you dont have that J-tool

I believe it can be done without the tool if you just take the top plastic part of the back of the seat off but I may be mistaken. I had a link to a how-to but i will have to find it.

Hmmm.... Sorry but I couldn't find anything.... I guess I was mistaken. But either way it shouldn't be too hard to remove.
