Im new with the whole LS1 and fuel injection thing, what are some good bolt-ons that i would really be able to notice? Im building a pro-charged motor for it, but it only has 20,000 miles on it so im lookin for something to tide me over till its time to make the swap.

Im sort of new too but have asked a ton of questions and know a lot more now. From what i heard the best upgrades.... if your an A4 def get a stall (torque converter) A good streetable one without wishing you went higher would be right around a 3600 with 2.5 str. Also a cooler is a must with this and the trans go shift kit is also a great idea. Than Long tubes of course with catback. For long tubes the best bang for the buck is probably pacesetter and a tsp y pipe. They are cheap and very ncie headers. However if you want the best, go with QTPs or kooks stainless but you will have to pay for those. Also intake is another good idea to upgrade including either LS6 intake or the FAST LSx depending on what you have i nstore for the future. If you have big plans such as H/C etc, than the FAST 90mm set up is good to go with along with the 90mm ported TB. If you arent thinking of such large plans the LS6intake is great along with a reg ported TB or getting yours ported. Hope this helps. I am also new but have asks a ton of questions over at ls1tech and got many answers. Later. Oh also SFCs are a great mod to start with for suspension

There are a couple of really good books out on the LS1 engine. One of them is:

Chevy LS1/LS6 Performance, Christopher Endres, HP Books ]

Just ignore the references to Agostino Racing... I believe they have gone out of business.

with all due respect, the intake wont make a real noticeable increase headers will give you a little and as far as the TB goes dont bother you will spend a lot of money and not notice much of a change the best thing to do if you want a real notice tc, sc something along those lines I would just stay stock and build a really nice motor to put in it later.... thats just me

According to the book I referenced above, the 2001 LS1 engine already includes the "LS6" intake. It flows about 12cfm more with the LS1 heads, and is worth 5HP, but since you already have it, you don't need it. As you correctly pointed out, it is an investment in the future. With ported LS1 heads the LS6 intake has been shown in dyno tests to add 17HP and 12lb-ft over the LS1 intake.

An intake like the FAST may not add anything over the LS6 in "out of the box" form, but it does offer the advantge of being able to port it for larger gains.

gears are probably the only investment I would make on the thing right now... like I said wait and build a really kick ass motor for it later, thats what I'm doing with my chevelle I'm dropping a 454 in it for now and I'm gonna build a really nice 502 for it in the meantime drive the 454

You need to understand the LS1 engine.... the stock bottom end can support 600 flywheel HP, and its VERY EASY to get it to produce power levels like that. A quick 125-shot of nitrous will give you all the excitement you need, with very little risk.

Buddy of mine has a 99 SS... running mid 10's at 125MPH. Stock bottom end, mild cam, light port work, LS6 intake, larger injectors, inline fuel pump, long tubes and an NOS 5177 dry kit.

Lots of people (even lots of proclaimed "car guys" just cannot grasp the potential of the LSx motors. First of all they do not realize that the factory heads are a race oriented 15° head. Bolt-ons alone can net power levels in excess of 420 HP at the crank on an LS1.

Like Fred mentioned, you already have the LS6 intake. That will do fine for now. Go with a set of long tube headers (Kooks, Pacesetter, Dynomax, Hooker), 3.73's, larger TB, aftermarket lid, a nice custom y-pipe, aftermarket cat-back, a good tune, and 350+ RWHP is easily within reach.

why are the LS1s sooooo much better than an LT1. I mean you need a bunch of stuff done to the LT1 to hit 11s but with LS1s all you need is like a 125 shot, good tires and headers and new gears... why
