  • Pacesetter Headers??

I know there are threads galore about this top on which are good long tube headers but of them really gave me ample information on the topic.

I recently lost a bolt on my shorties on the PITA side ith the alternator and stuff. So since i have to take all that off anyways and I was thinking about long tubes... are these good headers or not. Some people have said stuff about leaking... I would imagine that would be an installers error more than the headers fault.

How hard is the installation of long tube headers? I heard up to 2 days, which is fine, i dont do anything all day but go tothe gym and watch tv. Will i still pass emissions? I dont think they look real heard where im from, since my inspection took 4 minutes last time i got it done. Is the extra $119 worth it for the ceramic coating? I know you are going to say yes, but is it really necessary for my application? Need some feedback

I hear awesome things about pacesetter. Fit and quality. You might get a bad set of headers, they probably don't test fit every pair, but I heard nothing but awesome things. Great value.

I installed mids. Pretty simple job, not as hard as people made it sound. Long tubes are a diff. story I'm sure.

Ceramic coating is not an option, it should be mandatory. Those headers get very hot. They're not thick cast iron like the stockers, they won't retain heat. If you don't coat them, you will fry your wires. I paid about 80 for my msd wires, I wasn't about to toast them. It's worth it's weight right there. Plus you can fry more under the hood, and I have heard of people catching their motor on fire. Get the coating. Mine were coated by paul berry motorsports. Keeps them cool, and even after the car is warmed up, the headers will be cool to the touch really quick. It's good stuff. GET IT

btw, i don't know if i'd trust their coating, I never heard anything about it. PBM and jet hot have great reps. Might want to contact them... Jet hot is pretty steep though.

well it was on the newera website. I was pumped by their no shipping offer and they are in the same city as me, so i want to jump on that. I would coat them but are they gunna get a lot hotter than the shorties? because i dont have problems with them

Well, it's up to you if you have a cat or not. I would just get the long tubes, and buy the ory they sell for 125. I would def. get the ceramic coating though... Don't get the heat tape either, or that header wrap gimmick. It's up to you in the end, I would just highly rec. it. Anybody wanna back me up?

I got clear image. I have seen headers that had tape on them. All rusted out. Get the coating, save yourself a headache. I vote ceramic coated. Mine are ceramachromed. I got the best of both worlds. Coated and chromed

Dude, I cannot believe you are actually thinking about not getting em coated. Like raro said, it should be mandatory. I have the Pacesetter LongTubes and love em. No problems at all. I also purchased their ORY and the fit is damn near perfect, eliminated the cats tho. No Leaks!!!

Jessica brought up a point I forgot to mention. If you don't get them coated, they WILL rust. And when they do, you'll be out a set of headers. Get them coated for 200 or so, reap all the above benefits. Or have a hot engine bay and replace headers every couple years. Choice is yours.

Does that y pipe go right from the headers to the stock placement of the pipe that runs down the passenger side/center of the car. Because I am going to order pacesetters and the y pipe sometime next week. Also, do you think there is room for cats to be welded into the y pipe?
