Ken, or Detail Guru's need some help advice again

Hey guys,

One quick question. I just ordered about $100 worth of Zaino stuff.. Anyway's, it is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, so I am planning on getting to work when it shows up.. Anyway's, I recently waxed the car with Liquid Glass Polish. It says that this stuff puts a hard shell type of seal on the paint.. My question is, how many times do I need to wash the car with the blue liquid dawn to get it off the paint so I can Zaino the car? What do you all suggest?

Also, Ken, like you said, for a black car with the first coat of Zaino should I put some Z2 and Z5 with the ZFX accelerant additive or no? What do you suggest I do for a black car first coat?

Wash twice with liquid Dawn, or better yet, use a clay bar if you have one. If not, twice with Dawn will do it. For the first time, use Z5 and ZFX. If you fill one of the little plastic vials that comes with the ZFX with Z5 and add 5-10 drops of ZFX, that should be enough to do 2-3 coats on the whole car. You can do those back to back because of the accelerator. When to switch to the Z2 is up to you, depending on how satisfied you are with the lack of swirls. Keep your applicator pad slightly damp with Z6 or water, and it makes the Z5/Z2 go on much thinner and smoother.

i used z5 for the first 4 coats on the new gto... then half 2 half 5 for the next 4. i just recently went to straight z2pro now.

Just make sure that when you wash/dry, whether it be for the Dawn washes or with Zaino, that you are using 100% cotton wash mits and towels. Don't skimp on the towels. Spend the little extra money and get the expensive, made in the USA kind. Canon is a good brand, and I've seen them for $20/towel... less if you can find them on sale. You can definately feel the difference between the made in the USA ones and the made in Pakistan ones, which aren't actually 100% cotton, even if they say they are.

Ok, I will do that... One last question. When I wash twice with Dawn, do I need dry the car in between each wash, or can I just wash it with the dawn, rinse it, and wash it again? Then use the Zaino Car wash rinse it and then dry it? Then start applying the Zaino?

Also, when you all wash with Dawn, do you use the same wash bucket that you put your Zaino in, or do you use a different one? I don't know if rinsing out the bucket after having dawn in it would really get all of that dawn stuff out.. WHat do you all suggest?

No. Zaino car wash if for washing the car in between car polish applications.
Just use Dawn before you apply Zaino.

Ok, got my Zaino today.. Here's my problem. HOw do you measure 2 ounces for the ZFX bottle? I'm not sure exactly how much Z5 that is.. Can anyone help me out?

the little zfx bottle is 2 oz's



on towels.......guys..the new micro fiber stuff rocks better than cotton..bar . i got mine from a company in hawaii......ill dig up the web site. be carefull of the ones in pep boys and stuff. to test them, take a plain computer disc with ya..rub it with the towel, if it puts scratches in it...it will spider the clear coat. easy test. the micro fiber is a blessing and a half when it comes to removal, using z6, you name it. i got them all over the house and the garage now. not cheap, but worth it. do a google search and read about them. put in "micro fiber auto detailing towels."

Most people don't fill the 2 oz. ZFX bottle completely full, it is a little hard to shake up that way. I always advise newbies to mix up 1 oz. and try to use as little as possible per application. It seems whether they mix 1 oz. or 2 oz. they use whatever they mix up for an application. As you get better at applying it thin, you will eventually get down to using 1/4 to 1/2 ounce per application.

Hey Ken I found this site http://www.microfiberplus.com/ and was wondering what you thought of these mf towels? They also have wash mits and polish pads ect. Anyone use these or heard of these before? Plus you can have your towels monogramed... lol
