  • Motor won't start

The small block in my camaro won't fire. I thought it would be the distributor, which had issues, so I replace the HEI cap, coil, rotor and wires. The motor is properly grounded and the power into the distributor is there. I'm also quite sure the timing is ok. Gas is flowing, so that's not the problem. It may be something with the carb, I have an edelbrock 600 cfm carb with electric choke. If anyone has a clue as to why the motor won't fire please help.

Pull the plugs and verify that fuel is reaching the cylinder, if so and you get spark at the plug, the mechanical timing of the assembly may be out. If the timing chain stretchs enough it is possible for the timing chain to jump a tooth and the motor will turn, but not fire.
