  • Htpertech programmer problem

I originally started with the hypertech programmer when I first bought the car. Then after some mods, I went to Ed Wright to have the computer flashed. However, I neglected to "remove" the hypertech programming before sending the ECM to Ed. Now, according to hypertech, my programmer is a big paperweight. I guess they set it up so that you can only use the programmer on one car at a time. If you dont remove the programming from one, then you cant use the Hypertech on another car.

My question: Is there any way around this? I would like to get my programmer to non paperweight status so I can sell it and get some of my $ back out of it.

I thought I heard that hypertech will do it for a fee. $$$ If not, you are indeed SOL.

      well...

Hypertech will "for a fee" reprogram it but the fee is more than a new prgrammer...This really hacks me off, it's not like the programmer is cheap to begin with, they could at least support it a little. I understand their fear of using it on multiple cars but it's unfounded because you couldn't ever return the cars to stock if you programmed more than one.

If for some reason, I need to take my car back to the dealer, or any place that has the ability to change programming, I set my PCM back to stock. I also take off the ZR1s and set the Rev Limiter to 2000 RPM. Sorry about the programmer, but I think you are SOL.

I love that idea, when my car goes into the paint in body shop I know what I'm doing.

Never mind, the 2000 RPM idea won't work, hypertech only goes as low as 5500 RPMs.
