  • A/C question.....HELP!

My A/C is acting funny. When i turn the knob for it to come on, no matter were i turn the knob the air only comes out at my feet and windshield.
In other words, my air is either OFF or its hitting my feet and window.
    No other selection changes it.
    Thanks for any input!

Need to know make, model, and year.

Anyway, on pretty much every car there is, when there is little or no vacuum at the HVAC unit, it goes into a default position, which is defrost. The problem is probably either a disconnected or cracked vacuum line. See if you can find the vacuum line that provides vacuum to the HVAC, and trace it. The vacuum line to the vacuum reserve canister should be checked too. On the 3rd gen F-Bodies, that line comes off of a vacuum check valve near the distributor.

I got bored so I looked through Rob B's (shoebox) website and found that vacuum line. Looks like it's under the hood on the passenger side next to the AC evaporator.

And the vacuum reserve tank is under the car right below the battery.

No, not until the problem is fixed. But, this is where the extent of my knowledge ends, I really don't know much about the 4th gen's HVAC system, except the very basics.

EDIT: Seems like you found the problem. Let us know if that fixes it.
