Tirerack tests the new Firehawk Wide Oval Tire

Well, I've been wating for this for some time now. I wanted to see how the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval tire stacked up against the competition. Tirerack.com finally did a comparison and it seems to have performed rather well! I know I've enjoyed mine. Great traction, decent hydroplane resistance, and a very comfortable and quiet ride.

Just had my Firehawks EP's (41K miles) replaced with the Wide Ovals. I love them so far! Very simular to the old Firehawk EP's.

They compared it to the Goodyear Eagle rsa tires.... Why wouldn't they have compared it with the GS-D3's? I would like to see how the new Firestones stack up against them .

The RSA's were the stock equipement at 205/50R17 while all other tires were 225/50R16. I suppose the reason is so you can compare performance of the aftermarket tires to the OEM Goodyear tires.

I'm glad they included the BFGoodrich KDW's, but there are a couple other tires I would have liked to have seen in there...especially the older SZ50EP's, but they wouldn't do that since they're discontinued.

Whats the deal with those Avon Tech M500's They seem to be a really good tire. And they go for under $100 for a 245/50-16!!
