I think this has been posted before, but I'll explain again. The guy had a nitrous backfire, and it blew the plastic cover off the left side near the fairing, and it came up and hit him in the hand. It did NOT blow his hand off like 22 billion other sites are saying. He did suffer a bruised sternum (if you watch closely, you can see the tank hit him in the chest) but other than that, he was not seriously injured. The bike actually ran again that day at the track."No, officer, that bottle is my onboard Halon system"

Yea, its funny if you hear different stories, you see different things. The caption says he blew a piston through his forearm. If you watch expecting that, thats what you see.....but if you look close, something hits him in the chest.96 WS6 Formula: Ram Air, 383 Stroker, Ported LT4 Heads and Manifold, 1.6 Crane Rollers, 58MM T.B., AS&M Headers, Borla Exhaust, Meziere Elec. Originally posted by fastTA. Nitrous backfires suck!
I can recall one in my 79 T/A. It blew with enough force as to melt the throttle blades, burned the cam that held the secondary metering rods in place (quadrajet) and caught the flame resistant air cleaner on fire.I'm glad that a fire extinguisher is always something that I carry in the car.
I had to wire the secondary metering rods in place with a bag tie so the car would run good enough for me to drive it home. Yeah it blew a bunch of black smoke out the rear, but at least I didn't have to call a tow truck. I think it took about 5 gallons to drive 10 miles.
