  • First runs at track.

I went up to the local track, http://www.raceimsp.com/ ,for the first time on the first of the month for the night races. My best run out of five was a 14.324 at 96.61 mph. I had a 60' time of 2.139. I was running pretty consistently considering the only 14.4's i ran were with my a/c on . I want to know what else it would take to get down to like 13.8 range. I realize that's like a whole half second and it might be hard, but just out of curiousity. I was running 29 psi in my rear tires at the track. All of my mods are listed in my signature. The track was also a little wet. Thanks.

Well, it looks like the elevation at your track is about 2500 ft according to Google Earth. I'm not sure about the equation, but I think those times are about right. So you want to cut .5 off the ET...and I'm assuming you have an auto. A 3000 stall converter and good suspension mods will probably get you there. That includes Spohn LCAs, LCA relo brackets, torque arm, panhard bar. If you don't quite get there on those, a nice set of headers will definitely put you over the top after those mods. It's a matter of bolt-ons to get you there...and with a good launch, you'll be there easily.

Just so you know, your AC turns off automatically while you are at WOT. You want another 1/2 second, work on traction first and see where that gets you, then if you have an automatic, change to a higher stall converter. For a little more power, get some better valve springs and 1.6:1 roller rockers.

Oh, and there's always the 50 shot of Naws.

Just an FYI, I'm new to drag racing myslef and one of the things I read was that some of the vets get mad if you run the ac in the staging lanes because by the time you get to run, it usually causes water to drip down on the track.

Just thought I would let you know.

Here at SAR and most other Texas tracks I have been too...if the track announcer sees water dripping from the evaporator area, he will reprimand you over the PA system and remind everyone that you are NOT to run your A/C in the staging lanes.

I never run mine and I also used to drive around the water box when I used to not do a burnout.

I tried to read about all the etiquette involved. I wanted to let the new guy know so he does not run into some problem at the track.

Oh, I also have spohn lca relocation brackets. The track elevation is 3,720 feet, according to their website. Also, yes my car is an automatic.
