  • Front Pump Seal Pan Gasket

My car has an extremely slow leak caused by the front pump seal pan gasket. Will trans x fluid possibly seal this leak up. (Owner of service shop told me about this stuff.) Worth a try, and does it cause any DAMAGE? (Like a few drops a day leaking out.) The repair for this is INSANE, and only a tranny shop can do this type of work, so leaving it as is. (Like 800 dollars.) Had it inspected at a service station.

If it is truly leaking from the pump slide seal, slide support seal, oil seal ring, or one of the o-rings, you really need to have the pump pulled and do a pump seal kit. If it just leaking from the pan, you will just need a new pan gasket. That can easily be done by yourself. Most local parts stores will have a pan gasket for a 4L60E.

No way too expensive. I'll just keep filling it up from time to time, or try the trans x fluid.

First thing you need to do is to verify where in fact it is leaking from. If it is originating from the pan gasket then obviously you do not have to use the Trans-X. The Trans-X can be risky to use but it can also help if you truly have some seals that have hardened on you.

This was checked at a service station, and the owner mentioned the trans x fluid. I thought it was the pan gasket.

Have you even checked to make sure the pan bolts are all reasonably tight. Don't overtighen them, they can be stripped easily due to the nature of the material of the transmission case.
