Last night I was coming home from my friend's house taking 290 east at about 11:30 p.m. At about a quarter mile before my exit, I notice that traffic is really backed up due to an accident. I was in the right hand lane being I was getting off soon, and found myself coming to a dead stop due to the accident. My braking was semi-gradual...not a hard brake at all being I saw it from a good distance away. By the time I stopped, there probably was about 8 feet in between myself and the car in front of me. Literally the second I come to a complete stop, I look in my rear view mirror to see some jack@$$ lane change in to my lane and slam on the brakes (tires screechin and everything). I knew I was going to get hit, and my immediate reaction was nailing it and then slamming my brakes getting to maybe about a foot behind the car in front of me. I couldn't go off on the shoulder being that there were cars driving on the shoulder going up towards my exit. By the time I looked back again, the car had stopped to I'd say about a foot behind me...close enough to where I could not see his headlights in my rear view mirror.
Granted the impact wouldn't have been bad, but who wants to get in to that situation anyways. I can't stand the way people drive around where I live. I realize accidents happen and people do make mistakes, but there is absolutely no reason to come speeding up to an easily visible area where everyone is stopped. Seeing people's brake lights in front of you usually isn't an indication to speed up
None the less, I love torque and I'm happy the paint remains unscratched on my bumper
