  • Pics of my car...finally...test...

    Finally got a digital camera and figured after 5 years of being on this forum I ought to post some pics of the Camaro. I just spent 6 hours washing, claying, Z-5'ing and Z-6'ing her, so this was a good time to give it a try...

    [img=http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/5156/img2005071000030ow.th.jpg]

    And my obligatory Zaino shine pic, complete with fun-house mirror effect.....

    Ok, let's see if this works....

    Well....not thumbnails like I had hoped, but there they are. What do ya'll think? I know, I know, you can see the paint chips in the "Zaino pic," but..that's what you get when the car is a daily driver in Saskatchewan and no garage for it to reside in. I think I am going to have to get the hood and font fascia repainted when I get back to Texas. I also need some tire-black. Other than that stuff....does she look good for a 5 year-old black daily driven car?

              Looking great! It's nice to see a V6 Camaro with an owner that really keeps it nice. Most of the ones I see around here are all beat up.

              SPeaking of the 3800 V6... that is not a slouch! I am inpressed with the way they take off. I recall an old 87 Iroc I once owned. The stock 305 with 4bbl carb was 185 hp or some pathetic number like that. Back in those days, I thought it was fast. I ended up swapping in a built 5.7 after realizing how slow it was. Your 3800 V6 is making more HP than that 305 V8!

                Thanks guys! Yeah, Tracey....I like the way my car accellerates. I wish it had the power of the LS/LT-1 cars, but it's fast enough for my purposes. Thanks for the comments, guys!

                    Clean machine, man!

                    Ken's right. Zaino Tire Shine will really wake the car up. It's much better than the store tire goop that slings all over the paint and is a bit too glossy. I use it fairly regularly, but am only on my 2nd bottle after 3 years!

                    Also another tip is to use Armor All on the plastic around the wiper blades and lower windshield area and the front grill as well. If someone else knows of something better to shine these areas up, chime in!

                      Nice car, Todd. I agree with Tracy. It just seems all the V6 F-bodies I see are never taken care of. It's great to see someone who not only takes care of their car, but is enthusiastic about the engine as well. As Tracy already hit on, the 3800 is a real nice powerplant. Before we got my Wife her Exploder , we had a 2000 Buick Regal with the 3800. That car was a rocket.

                        i use the z16 for all the plastic on the outside of the car, it does an awesome job and doesnt give that glossy look, just turns the black plastic real dark and doesnt wash off either.

                          Yep! I will want to do the trade as soon as we get settled and If and when I can get on with a police department. Yeah, black is awesome when it is clean...it is just keeping it that way that is the problem. Just this morning, after doing all that work yesterday, I go outside to find a crap load of little green bugs dead and stuck on the top parts of the car. No idea what that is all about. Anyway...on the Z-16....I used to use that stuff, but it seemed to turn my last set of tires almost an orange color after time. Is this normal, or did I just get a bad batch?

                            Please add me to the list of respectable V6 owners. I've found that using a cheap-o foam paint brush works well for putting on the tire shine without getting a mess everywhere. At any rate, here's my car:

                              Yeah, black is a pain to keep clean, I agree. But, when its clean, it brings a tear to your eye
