  • Coil / ignition module replacement...

    75K mile LT1.
Do coils and modules go bad and would it be worth replacing about now.
Im going to do the coil / module washer spacing trick which I hope will solve the slight bucking and bogging that the engine does at light accelaration.
Are the new OEM coils good enough or should I go aftermarket and is it true that the 96 LT1 coils are better than the 95 LT1 coils.

I had a HUGE miss at 4800+ RPM. It would also backfire once in a while. It was the ICM for me. I also replaced the coil with an MSD because I believe they're just as cheap as stock. I think I got mine for $35 or so.
I also recommend the "spacer" trick. It helped my low end stumble a lot, but didn't completely get rid of it.

96 -97 coils are said to be better, but it has a different connector and is not a direct replacement. An aftermarket coil for your year should be fine.
