SEMA (yall know who they are.........) will launch a new certification program for wheel and tire specialists.......designed to test and endorse installers knowledge of proper tire/wheel fitments. (this is a good thing).
They also will launch programs that this new one builds off of.........
ready?
The name of the new SEMA program is: Z5
The other programs are: Z1 - electric sun roofs, Z2 - exterior components, Z3 - leather interiors, and Z4 - roof treatments.
SEMA is also getting help launching and guiding these programs from ASE (Automotive Service Excellence).
The next test date for aftermarket installers is Nov. 13, but all five programs are scheduled to be administered May 6, 2004 at more than 700 test centers in the U.S. and Canada. They will also offer training for those aftermarket supplier who need it.
I do think this may be a good thing folks... for those who care about the quality of the job...but most of all..for the uneducated consumer wanting "bigger wheels...fatter tires" and cool ground effects...... that some installers just "thrown on" at the customers request, with no common knowledge of the engineer dynamics that made be affected......including causing safety issues. with time and education..the consumers will pass this info on...making it tough for "back yard dealers" to do shotty work....... we can only hope......
and Sal........... hmmmmmmmm....the "Z"'s should'nt mix things up too much...... after all......if somebody says "im gonna get leather interior..the guy is z3 certified"....... a good Zaino user will come back with "thats Z-10 man.........Z3 is for non clearcoat paint"........."HUH"??????????
LOL
