first off, you dont "scrub" a black car, you "bathe it".

go here, read all about it... this is the no. one polish in the car enthusiasts world... and its the best as far as im concerned, and ive tried a ton of stuff since 1967.......

use nothing but 100% cotton ...read about it on his site...or premium micro fiber towels work good too.

i have two black cars...the look like this:

All you need to know is do a search on this forum for "Zaino" and you'll get more info than you'll ever be able to read about washing and waxing and the right polish to use to do it.

If you just got the car, start by giving it a bath in dishsoap and use a clay bar moistened with soap solution to go over the entire car an remove the dead paint.

dry it off and start with the Zaino process.

You will not believe the results.

Zaino is not a wax, it is a polymer. There are 2 parts you mix and apply. They bond with the paint and form a high gloss shell over the paint. Zaino is almost perfectly optically clear as well, so there is no hazing.

Also, Zaino does not contain any detergents or solvents. Each time you add another coat, it actually builds on itself. No "wax" can make that claim. Using many coats of Zaino you can actually erase small scratches.

And like all this was not enough, Zaino is amazingly easy to apply and wipe off. It does not get gunked up in the cracks like conventional waxes do.

Zaino all the way, you cannot go wrong. I know Ken must have a hundred coats on his Firehawk.

                    water spots:

try WD40, white vinegar, and if they dont do it, the use the Zaino clay bar. follow the instructions using the right lubricant.

swirls: all clear coat cars get swirls guys, i get swirls when i have to wash the car, its inevidable, because you have to "move" the dirt with the cotton wash applicator in order to wash it... but with a build up of layers of zaino after time, now your swirls are in the zaino..not the clear...

they can be buffed out first, or if they are not too bad, then they can be filled without hand buffing them out.

just like it says: for buffing first:

there is no "dead paint" broh. clear coat doesnt "die". the clay bar removes contaminants from the clearcoat...

The prep work is critical to achieving the optimum results. There is alot of great advice above. I also recommend Zaino, after trying dozens of products for over 30 years.

Zaino has a full range of products, so does every other product manufacturer, but it really isn't very confusing if you simply read what they are; polish, clay, wash, detailer, etc.

The cost per application of using Zaino is very economical, in some cases even less than a store-bought product. It goes on SO thin and lasts SO long is why it is economical.
