    burnt a plug wire, heres my fix! Is it OK?

    I burnt a plug wire, the drivers side, second plug from the firewall. Car was stuttering slightly, looked under the hood, sure enough it was touching. So I went to murrays and bought "Exhaust pipe heat shield." It's this red material that I wrapped around the wire, then I wrapped this steel tape around it, and routed the wire to where it's about 1" from the header.

    Think this will hold up? I don't know what else to do. That wire was a pain. Think this will work? I was thinking it would just cover it up, but still conduct it, so it wouldn't be direct contact with the header. But this stuff said "Heat shield."

      Do yourself a favor and replace the wires.

        use a longer wire and route it away and straight in.

          The plug wires carry 30-40,000 Volts. You can't insulate against 40,000 Volts with a metallic shield.... if anything you have made it worse. You've protected it from the hot exhaust, but made it easier for the spark to leak and fire against any nearby ground.

            This was a temp solution. It's holding up fine so far. Anyone know where I can buy a single MSD 8.5mm super conductor??
