OBDII Question

I was looking through the manual for my 97 T/A and came across following statement:

In Canada, OBDII is replaced by Enhanced Diagnostics.

Question:

Is it still the same as OBDII, just a different name?

If I bought a scanner for OBDII will it work with my T/A?

Boy they sure have to make or name things different. I've seen a car paint called Patriot Blue in the US and Royal Blue in Canada. Essentually the same color. Go figure eh!

I've never heard of anyone in Canada complaining about having to use a different scanner.
