  • Cooling Fan

I was on my way to the gym when the temp gauge started to rise, got there ok but found out the cooling fan motor seems to have burnt out. My question is do I have to replace just the motor or the whole unit. If it has to be the whole unit I may as well upgrade so is there anything inparticular i should look for when buying a new one? Also if I can just replace the motor anyone know where one is available?

    Thanks.

Do you have a singe fan or dual fans (it sounds like a single fan, but just want to make sure). Sure it's not the wiring, the relay, or the fan switch on the motor? Will the fan turn on when you turn on the AC, have you tried hotwiring (temporary, of course) the fan to see if it works, etc?

If does turn out to be the fan motor, you can get a replacement fan motor at any auto parts store. They usually cost around $40.

Thanks for the response, it is a single fan. i gotta check some of those things out i didnt have a lot of time to fool around with it today, i think my dad and i will take a look at it over the weekend, btu hotwiring did not seem to produce any results and the motor smelled kind of burnt, the guy who had it before me ran it all the time, so it wouldnt surprise me if it just burned out.

Also is it difficult to replace yourself, we figured it wouldnt be too hard to do, btu any tips would be helpful!
