Dave, I have to agree with ya there. We all were going back and forth on one of the last threads because we didnt agree on the profiling, but thats what makes this country as great as it is. Thats Freedom of speech. Just because someone disagrees with you does not make them unamerican. Its really hard for me to be labeled either one because Ill agree or disagree with either one on certain issues.

Originally posted by Dave MI think it's because conservatives are ready andto jump down the throat of any liberal who stands up and speaks out. Quite often on this board, which is vastly conservative, liberals have been called unamerican, unpatriotic, and even traders. Personally, I find that offensive. Because I may have a different opinion on issues or how government should be run doesn't mean I'm any less patriotic than any one else here, and I'm certainly not a trader to my country. I find the suggestion that I, or any one else who may tend towards liberal, highly offensive. That's why I used the title I did for this thread, because I know on this board a liberal is something to be despised and beat down. To me that shows a very narrow mind, but then again maybe that's just my Centrist "open mind" speaking.
You know, what I said : "But please don't go liberal in the mean time", well don't take that seriously, because it really doesn't matter to me anymore. It used to, but I just care anymore -- except the fact that I may have to move to another country if Hillary Clinton somehow wins the presidency in 2008

[QUOTE=Kevin - Blown 95 TA]
It's spelled traitor . And if the shoe fits...[\quote]
Did you just flat out call me a traitor? What, exactly, have I done or said that would indicate I have acted against the best interests of my country? Remember, I'm Libertarian now!
I won't agrue that the media tends towards liberal, but the point I was trying to make is that the word liberal seems to be used as a bad word; a derogatory comment, where as conservative doesn't have that same connotation. You, yourself, said that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but yet when a "liberal" gives their opinion, they're labeled a traitor. There are people on this board that have labeled every Muslim in the country unpatriotic, unamerican, and a traitor. To me, that flies in the face of what America is all about: tolerance, open exchange of ideas, freedom of speech and religion, I could go on.
Conservatism seems to wreak of hate and close-mindedness. That's just my opinion of your opinion.
BTW, thanks for sticking to that request I asked for in the first post: i.e. not turning this into "how I suck for being a liberal" thread.Dave M

This thread has turned into exactly what I didn't want. I was only looking for some input on where I stood on the political spectrum, and specifically didn't want any political mudslinging back and forth. I stated so specifically in my orignal post. I've been given the information I asked for, and I thank those who contributed, but because this thread has headed in a direction I was hoping to avoid, it's now locked.Dave M
