  • Headlight Question...

hah... i know what you're thinking...she didn't read before she posted...and this is just another grinding headlight question, but nope... I like to add a little variety into y'all's lives ...so...
I know that my headlights are making the grinding noise, and I know how to fix it... I'm plannin' on doin' that next paycheck But, I started to realize that if/when I want to turn on the parking lights, the headlights pop up... they don't come on, just pop up... My question to you is... when I change to metal gears and I'm not runnin' on the jacked up ones, Are my lights still gonna pop up when I want to turn on the parking lights?? And if so, is there an adjustment that I should/can make to the lights while I'm changing gears??

They shouldn't pop up when you just turn on the parking lights. When mine started to do that, the headlight switch itself ended up being faulty. There is a bi-metallic strip in the switch that after enough heat cycles starts to make contact at the wrong time. Eventually mine got bad enough that the headlights would start raising and lowering all by themselves. That just might be the start of a bad switch. It could also be related to the headlight motor as well. If you unplug the harness of the bad motor, see if the good headlight still pops up when you turn on the parking lights only. Unless of course both are bad.......then it's fix them first and go from there.

Not much...I seem to remember right at $40. it's the rotary switch to the left of the console. The only pain is pulling the cluster bezel and not scratching up anything.

Yup. Here's another vote for the headlight switch. My Brother's C4 Vette had the exact same problem, as did my friend's '86 Firebird. Both were switch related.

Just replace the gears or make the "fix it" procedure You already know and that problem you described will gone...

              Take care

thanks... and by the way... you like boxers? I have a fawn colored one... he's from a championship blood line and we kind of inherited him... I have always wanted to breed him but can't find a girl pretty enough... Thanks again!

Ohhhh yeah! I love boxers too. I own a big friend of mine. He is 16 months old, fawn with white chest, the lower 1/3 of the 4 legs and a white padlkock-like around his muzzle. His name is Maximus (like the Gladiator). My friend has a chip, the tatoo and the pedigree registration. He's looking for a bride too.
