So yesterday i was driving with a friend of mine to pick his car up from one of our site sponsors. Im doing about 65 on the highway and all of a sudden the car like starts to break up (almost like a mis fire) then it like jerks back in and accelerated on me. it proceeded to do it several times yesterday. i had this happen to me once before but it was a one time deal. later on in the night i got on the throttle a bit to pass some one on the express way and the car was bouncing off the rev limiter before it shifted into 3rd. The only thing the 2 of us could think of is if my torque convertor is shot. Also if you get on it a little bit from a stop you can feel sorta a grinding somewhere in the drivetrain.

I'm having similar issues, but with my 1-2 shift. Spikes up to 3500RPM before shifting. (I'm runnign a 3200 Vigilante stall.)
We are guessing my nitrous launches last weekend were murder on the tranny and will have to look at the servos/synchros and other transmission goodies.
If you aren't having problems with the 1-2 shift, only the 2-3 shift I'd guess it's in the transmission since the TC going out should show problems at the same RPM range in all gears.
If it does end up being your stall converter I've got a stocker for sale, cheap...
(But it won't help you since your LT1

Interesting, I ha ve a simlar problem... driving along at 60 70mph low rev's cruising along... then suddenly its like gears do not exist! 6000rmp.. reving freely, back off to idle.. aply throttle still rev's freely! slow down to 20 30mph, put foot on throttle driving fine again!
Ive changed speed sensor, no effect
so i guess wiring to eng computa? throttle position sensor? Or now my new idea torque converter?
please help!

I've heard of something like that in fords where there is a neutral safety switch or something that is causing the tranny to switch out of gear.Originally posted by Screaming madInteresting, I ha ve a simlar problem... driving along at 60 70mph low rev's cruising along... then suddenly its like gears do not exist! 6000rmp.. reving freely, back off to idle.. aply throttle still rev's freely! slow down to 20 30mph, put foot on throttle driving fine again!
