  • anyone replace the LM resonator?

going to install mid lenght headers and this is what i read should i replace my resonator? with what?
" Loudmouth: LM is a love/hate exhaust, it sounds great on stock manifolds with few bolts on's. When you start adding LT's and ORY's it shows its ugly side. LM + ORY + LT = rasp and drone. Try and listen to various LM setups in person to know what your getting into. Time after time people get LM and end up swapping it out since they get tired of its annoyances. To reduce the rasp and drone you have a few options; install some cats, replace the resonator with a real muffler, or install a 12-18" dynomax bullet. This setup is referred to Dynomouth; Borlamouth is of the same concept but with Borla xr-1 mufflers."
    anyone have a different muffler??
    thanks,
    eddie

Get the loudmouth II, you can just buy the muffler. There should be a sound clip of mine on www.ls1sounds.com if you wann hear what it sounds like with longtubes.

I have a LM, no cats, and stock manifolds, and it was entirely too loud. With long tubes, there is no possible way you could drive the car. I pulled the center section out and used my old exhaust setup, which already had 2 12" Dynomax Bullets welded in place. Sounds good now.

The two best sounding cars I've ever heard were both 383 LT1 cars. One had Hooker long tubes, no cats, and a flowmaster muffler on the stock catback. Sounded like friggin NASCAR. The other one had MAC midlengths, no cats, and a 4" mufflex.

I've got a Sweet Thunder steel pack in place of my resonator. Not running LT's or anything, but still sounds friggen sweet. Plus, since its O.D. is the same as the I-pipe (3"), I can still get the Spohn torque arm with both front and rear DS safety loops. Check 'em out at Sweet Thunder. Hope this helps
