  • NFB: Anyone Watch Pinks and Top Gear Last Night?

I caught Pinks right near the end. I saw the final race between the 1st gen Camaro ('68?) and the Monte Carlo SS. What happened in the prior race that made the Monte Carlo side all upset? I thought it was cool of the Camaro driver to give the Monte back anyway...

On Top Gear, I thought that Porsche contest was pretty funny. Also, the segment on the McLaren Mercedes was downright impressive. $600,000 is more than I'll ever spend on a house, let alone a car, but it almost looks worth it.

Not sure which one but race two or three ended up being a redo because the idiot, dork, good for nothing host guy went ahead and did his stupid up and down arms thing without getting a thumbs up from the Camaro. The Camaro "reacted" and went off the line. The SS guy said its a race since Camaro left the line so that brought on a redo. In the end the Camaro ended up with enough wins to take home the SS but gave it back to race another day since there were so many goofs and mix-ups.

I've watched the show before. It's a little annoying. Too much posturing and argueing and not enough racing. I'll stick with Master Blasters for now. They turned a couple Mini's into lawn darts last night and one guy nearly lost an arm!

Gotcha. I only caught the last race. That host is ridiculous. They should just have a christmas tree setup instead of that moron. It would have more personality too.

Top Gear, on the other hand, has some great hosts. They're pretty funny, and look like they truly enjoy their work (who wouldn't?). I just found the Porsche segment to be great last night. The part where they had to put the ads in the personal section was too funny.

I don't like PINKS nor do I like the majority of the so called "reality" shows that are just everywhere on TV these days. Speed TV is getting too carried away with these types of programs. Texas Hardtails is another program I could do without. Between all the NASCAR stuff and all the stupid "reality" stuff. there is very little programming left on there that I like. It is a far from it's early days when I watched "Speedvision" all the time..........oh well.

Dave ..TOTALLY agree .... NASCAR has taken over that chanel ....cutting in on major races for some stupid NASCAR practice or qualifying. Texas Hardtails is just dumb. Pinks ... worthless.... Tuner transformation ... mindless... Chop cut rebuild..... no point. About the only good show they had was Victory by Design.

When Speedvision became Speed Channel, they changed their program concept completely. They used to run a lot of the hard to find race series like GT and rally circuits. They went towards the Nascar popularity and even go as far as to call it Nascar TV underneath the Speed logo.

Speedvision ROCKED!! I loved the old re-runs of that older show. What was it? Car and Track? It's funny to watch the 'ol 70's era cars go through the slalom. They make the current Impala look like a sports car.

I believe it was Car & Driver's shows they would run. You're right. It was funny to see them putting something like a Vega to the test. They actually still run some of their older stuff late at night during the short Nascar off-season. It's rare though...

The show they do here on Discovery is all segments from the one they film in the U.K. They kind of go back and forth between the two.
