transmision question

i just wanted some help wit my bird i have a 3.8 v6 firebird 97

my question was : my car as a button next to the shifter that says "2nd"
i really dont know what it is first i thoug it was a transmision setting but i turn it on and off and it makes no difference on performance o yeah and it came like that from factory

That's second gear start. When you push the button at a stop the car will begin moving in second gear. It's to help with low traction environments like snow so you don't spin your tires as easy. It's in the manual. If you don't have it, there are pdf files at www.shbox.com.
