Speaking of Whining

Not to intrude on a previous thread about whining. But ever since I have bought my '97 T/A, in reverse the tranny whines. I was just wondering if this is common issue or is it possibly a clue to tranny problems? Thanks everyone.

No help with the noise for you, but no intrusion felt. Kinda made me laugh seeing the two threads... I think I need to get out more...

are you running any gears? I guess you wouldn't know since you noticed it since you bought it.

My auto whines slightly when I reverse, but only under a heavy foot, but the whine is coming from the rear axle not the tranny.

Opps.. Not sure if this would change anything or not, but I have the auto tranny. I should def check the rear diff fluid. Wonder if maybe its the same old fluid since the car was new. Lets hope not lol...

the whine u hear is cuz the gears are str8 cut, all the other gears in the tranny are cut at an angel and thus reduces the noise. its common, dont wry bout it
