  • Starter is located under intake manifold!!..

HAHAHAHA... Just found this while I was researching a starter problem I am having. I hope nobody here has a Lexus SC400. There starter is located under there intake manifold. The dealership charges $1000 to replace a starter with a rebuilt unit! Makes you feel a little better about your car, doesnt it! (Even LT1 owners)

Corvette ZR1's have the same setup. And the price to replace the starter was astronomical as well. Plus, if you washed your engine water would get into the starter and fry it because it would puddle in the valley under the manifold. I am not sure how Chevrolet finally adressed the problem.

GM's Northstar engines are the same way. I've always figured engineers did to save some space. I mean, how else are you going to stuff a V8 in a FWD Caddy? .
