  • LS1 in 3rd and 4th gear pull??

    ok..
raced a 2001 -2002 Ws6 and a 2000-2002 SS this week. raced the WS6 from a stop and we raced up till 90 mph. his hood was at my rear tire all the time. (M6-cat back and lid free mods) raced the SS on the freeway. he did not pull away from me. i stayed on his tail from 55 to 130 mph
    (stock SS?)
i was for the LS1 to pull away but it never happened
no traffic on both races. i work nights and this happened as i got off work at 5:30 am

I love 'em. I installed them with the headers, so of course I noticed nice power gains, but acceleration and upper RPM is much smoother, and I know it's cause of the plugs/wires. Those MSD's can take a lotta heat. They are very thick wires. Little hard to route on the p/s side because of their thickness, but very worth the money. Replace your wires once, and do it right with the MSD SC's, that's not a job you wanna do again shortly

I believe you, I raced my friends 01 vette and had him by a car length all the way up to about 90 mph, then he pulled but its a vette. Then I race my friends ls1 camaro and took him off the line and then it was about even. I drive his alot since we work together, The only difference I notice is more power in upper RPMs and a little bit smoother acceleration. My lt1 though really has so much more of a torque feeling though.

Bone stock to stock with with identicle skilled drivers I have seen the LT1 slightly beat the LS1 off the line but the LS1 pulled away at 50MPH, the LT1 would lose by a couple car lengths.
Every LS1 SS I have driven pulled noticebly harder over 5000RPM.
I guess the LS1 heads are really that much better heads.

A stock LT1 will not beat a stock LS1 especially a Corvette. I own a 1995 Z28 and a 2004 Corvette that's stock. My vette has won against LT! and LS! F-bodies. But I enjoy my Z28 more than my vette. I think my Z28 is faster now, since I did the engine and transmission. I have a 396 ad a TH-400 for money to do the rearend and suspenison.

I too have run against a couple LS1's in my day. I got smoked a couple times when I first got my car. After all of my mods that I have put on, I've gone up against my friends '98 formula a couple times. Once was on the highway from about 35 to 95...he pulled slightly at about 65 to get a car on me by 95. The other time we went from a dead stop. I had a better reaction time, took 3/4 of a car on him from the get go, and he didn't catch up by 70.

Raro is right....I think no one will believe you on this one. I don't run LS1's too often, so I'm not sure if it's just my buddys car or not. I'm guessing he needs a tune up or something because I don't have as many mods as I think I would need to run an LS1.
