Guys, I started a post a little earlier about my car smoking on start up. After talking to all of you guys I realize that it could still be nothing. However, due to the miles and my goals for the motor, I have been thinking for some time about buying a shortblock and having it built by my friends dad.
Since the motor will be out and basically perfect when it is put back in I can do some internal engine things that before were not feasible. Maybe a 383/stroker? I will obviously finally be able to do cam and headers as well. Since my friends dad is very experienced I won't have to worry about specific matching of components as he will pick the right cam, etc, for my application.
What will be up to me, though, is what direction to go.
Should I go with a stroker? If so what kind of power increase can I expect. If I go stroker is it still OK to have the stock heads ported along with intake?
I am very confused, I've got lots of thoughts flying through my head, but it's exciting to think about a clean slate to start with!
