  • Help with 92' RS

I just put about $400 into my engine to get it running, its been sitting for 2 years.

But after its started, if I let it drop under 1,500 rpms my car stales, I'm hoping I don’t need a new engine.

but i think i mite have burnt valves, and if i do then i guess ill get ride of my v6, and put a v8 in it, unless someone else knows what’s wrong.

what size v6? fuel injected? what year? auto or std tranny? try cleaning out the throttle body and see if that helps

3.1, I had the same problem...well, something like it...make sure all your vaccum lines are hooked up and not leaking.

It would also help to know why it was not running, and what you have already done (what did you spend the $400 on?).

I spent the $400 on getting it started, new started, fuel filter, alternator, battery, fuses, all new spark plugs & wires. I think I bought a few other things for it but can’t remember.

And like the thread says its a 92' rs. its has a very straight body but its 3.1 v6 witch I do want to replace in time, I bought the car for 500$, and iroc rims and nito tires for $250, the front tires are bald but the black tires are nice, I bought everything from a kid from fuel slut, I tried to post on there for help but they just made fun of me lol.

low rpm stalling can be caused by a number of things... EGR valve, MAF, vacuum lines, IAC, among others. I would focus on the MAF and IAC. Clean the throttle body as well as the IAC. With the engine idling, tap on the MAF with a screwdriver. Does the engine stumble? If so, the MAF needs replaced. Are you throwing an SES light?
