  • vette motor swap

    i have 94 firebird i threw a rod and skanked the block all up so i got a 94 vette motor with 40k on it for $1500 i was told all have to do is sawp the intake and the oil pan and i can drop it right in my bird is this ture if so why cant i keep the vette intake why would i have to swap and is the computer on the firebird setup the same as the vette becasue the vette motor has 25 more hp

    and while i have the motor out what farely cheap mods should look at like pulleys headers new staged clutch or something what would you guys do

      I am sure someone else will chime in but I do not think there is anything different with the intake. They are both LT1s. The oil pan is probably different. I don't know about the PCM but it is most likely the same also. The 25 HP diffference is mostly in the exhaust.

        Doesn't vette motor have 4 bolt main, thus stronger?

          The only difference is the Vette block has 4 bolts mains and a slightly different camshaft.

            I think the fuel rail hard lines are different on the 'vette, so you would have to swap the fuel rails, not the entire intake.

            The front accessory mounting bracket is completely different, and as a result the damper hub has a different length. All would need to be swapped out.

            You will have an extra knock sensor on the drivers side of the block. Leave it, or remove it and put the pipe plug from you F-Body block into it.
