        Sorry, I should've said that these rating changes were the results of a new SAE standard in measuring engine output. These are the same engines measured under a more accurate standard. The old standard allowed manufactureres to play with timing, octane rating, and some other things. You can infer from this that the domestic companies have been conservative while Foreign companies have been more "creative".

          That's always good to know. They have outrageous claims of all kinds of power (300-330 on sedans now?), yet many didn't show it in the 1/4 mile trap speeds, or ETs. I always assumed they had terrible drivetrain losses, but I guess we now know the real reason!
