After listening to ls1sounds for hours, I decided that true duals with Sweet Thunder type mufflers is what I want to do. I also decided on some Pacesetter headers. I think this is the perfect combo for me. However, college disagrees. Until I have some money put back, I'm gonna have to make do with what I got. So today, I went I went to the exhaust shop to see what they could do for me. I asked him about how much he would charge to put true duals on my car just out of curiosity. He told me it couldn't be done. He said, "These cars were not designed for true duals. You can't put them on there because there's not enough clearance."
Anyway, I asked him about what he could do for me, and he said Flowmaster was the best possible thing I could put on it. for a few seconds, I actually considered putting one on there.
Then I came to my senses and asked him how much he would charge just to cut the muffler off and put straight pipes in it's place. $60. Sounded good to me so I told him just to go ahead and do it.
Wow, I never would have thought it would sound very good but it does. As soon as I hit the on ramp to the interstate, it was all smiles
. I don't understnad why more people don't do this! It was very cheap and sounds great. Very deep sounding. I think this will be able to get me by until I save up enough money for some headers and duals. No more trouble wondering if my engine running any more!
BTW, how much horsepower do you think this free'd up? I could hit from about 15 mph before and only hear the tires chirp going to second. I hit it today, and the tires broke loose on kickdown, and even spun a little more than a chirp on the 1-2 shift. Did the stock muffler really restrict that much power?
