  • '68 Firebird 400 color opinions needed.

I am gearing up to finish my Firebird 400 so I can get it sold. What color combination do you think is best to move it quickly? The car is going to be more of a custom street rod. I am thinking either dark metallic blue with white interior w/ body color accents or platinum silver with black interior w/ body color accents. Unfortunately, due to monetary reasons, I need to stick with the OEM reproduction interior colors.

Either one will move quick, both of those look great. I might add that the lighter body color will do a little better at hiding any body work.

I am not too concerned about body work. I am going to blast the entire car and make it perfect. I will spend close to nine months on the body...no fillers...if I am stuck, I will use lead. It will be a show quality job when it is done.

If that's the case, my vote would be to go with the Dark Blue and white interior. That's a really sweet combo.

That is the direction I am leaning. If I had the money I would go with custom graphite leather covered seats fitted with 5pt harnesses along with matching door panels, dash, and such. With the Platinum silver, that would be very unusual. However, I don't have that kind of money. The underdash air, power window/lock conversion, and the OEM reproduction interior kit will suck about all the finances I have. Fortunately, the engine and driveline are done.

What color was it from the factory? I would do that.

It was a cream white color with black interior...kinda awful looking. The car has already been halfway turned into a custom rod complete with fuel cell. It will never be original again. It is also not numbers matching. At this point, I plan on turning it into something unusual to take to the car shows...put a for sale sign on it, and take the best offer.

I bought a brand new 68 Firebird 350. It was the dark blue metallic with a white deluxe knitted vinyl interior. It was a fantastic combo!! Wish I still had it.
