First let me say hello to everyone. It has been a long time since I have been here and am glad to be back.
Now to my current issue. My bird's has been singing a different tune as of late. When and only when accelerating from a complete stop where I bring the rpm's above 1500 I get the sound of grinding, though not like gear on gear grinding. To me it sounds more like a bearing that is bad. You know the sound, and it's not quiet. When it happens I am typically at an intersection and it get's the attention of all those around. The sound makes me picture a disc spinning on a bad bearing that causes a wobble. Like a bad wheel bearing but not that deep and spinning at 1500+ rpms. By the time the clutch is totally enaged/pedal released the noise is gone. I can reproduce the sound in 2nd and 3rd though I really have to try for it, ecspeically in 3rd. This leads me to believe it is nothing to do with the gears.
Initially I was thinking my clutch or or throw out bearing. Though after reading my manual I haven't seen the mention of a throw out bearing. I am not experienceing any slipping at all.
No matter what I will be fixing this myself though I am certain someone here must have experienced this before me.
I am at 126,000 miles and had a new clutch in around 75,000.
Let's see some thoughts and thanks in advance.
