  • Transmission noises!!

Hey guys....Let me know if these noises are normal, or if something is wrong, and what might be the cause...

In any gear, when the engine is slightly bogging in order to pick up speed, my transmission makes a grinding noise. It doesn't sound all that harmful, but rather like a vibrating that is causing this noise..its hard to explain, but it makes the noise in any gear until I pick up a little more speed, then i can't hear it anymore...Is this normal or is something wrong?

The other problem i have been having is that the tranny makes a whinning noise whenever i am in a low gear and letting the engine slow the car down (Like when I am in first gear going slow down a hill and let off the clutch, brake, and gas) There seems to be a lot of stress on the shifter when this happens, and it immediately stops when I push the clutch in...Is this normal?? Let me know what you guys think...sorry about the length..

Mine does that too... I was able to silence it mostly by changing the fluid to B&M Trick Shift and puting in a good ATF addative. Give it a shot, it's easier than changing the oil.

That was what I had in mind, I'll do that then and see how much it helps, I was told also that it could be the throwout bearing, but Im not too familiar with transmissions, so I don't even know what it does...thanks anyway

What kind of Tranny? A4, M6?

I dont know about the M6, but have you considered your rear end? It could be that your ring & pinion needs to be adjusted for depth and backlash. My car makes similar noises, but thats from the Richmond gear set whinning.
