  • When I do the crate...

OK, one day Im gonna get that ZZ4350. I wanted some advice on some key parts. I need to know if I will need to upgrade my fuel pump to deliver the engine. I just got a new one for my 305 that has OEM specs pretty much, so will I need one that pumps more? Also, I'm thinking it would be best to throw some sweet headers on there too right?Duh

Also, has anybody installed/ read any information on Hurst's Dual/Gate auto shifter. I am curious as to whether it would work good on the old TH-700. Hell, seems like a deal at 300$, but I haven't seen a ton of info on it.

    GO DAWGS!

I am running a ZZ4 in my 1980 Camaro and I abosolutely love my set up. Ive got the ZZ4 with the Hot Cam Kit (218/228, .525/.525 w/1.6 rockers). Ive personally tried a variety of carbs and the best one ive found (for power, not tuning) is the Holley 750DP w/ mechanical secondaries. I am also running an all MSD ignition, 6AL box with Blaster coil. But the best upgrade i made was to the Edelbrock RPM Air-gap intake. Hope this helps.

Im glad to hear positive feed back on an engine that has really caught my attention. From the specs it seems that you can acheive big-block numbers from this 5.7. I know it will take alot of goodies to complete the package, but the whole idea is down the road for me until the bills are stacked. What kinda tranny/gears are you running?

Originally I ran 4.10 w/ a TH-400, for a straight 1/4 mile car i couldnt ask for anything better. With the 4.10s it would leave about 30ft hitting second and chirp 3rd. I am currently running 3.42s w/ TH-400 (I take the car on 8hr trips and I needed a better highway gear). The lower gear made a noticable difference in throttle responce, but it still moves out just fine. A ~130mph top speed isnt to bad either.
