  • Need help on DD - Transmission related?

Long story short, i bought an srt-4; they changed the price on my after 2 weeks, so i returned it... I got my 93 Camaro (A4) back from the dealer, and now its running like $HIT! So not only are my gauges and radio stolen (from the dealer)... but it wont even drive right!

Its kinda like the sound of when you have a busted tranny mount, and you get too much torque on it... like gears are slipping. I had that when i first pulled out of work today, and now OD does not work at all. (like being in neutral) I have to run it in D all the time, and if i give it too much gas on the get-go it starts queeling like the gears are about to come apart. I can shift it into OD once its moving (only more then 25mph) but only up to 1000 rpms and then it doesnt have any drive and is like being in neutral.

The tranny works on everything else... but not OD. I can WOT once i get moving and have it in D. But it feels like it wont switch into 4th. GRR. I HAVE to get this thing running right. I cannot afford to miss classes. and my schedule keeps me running around all day. Any help would be appreciated. I have yet to check ANYTHING.

The only thing i did make sure was ok is the linkaged to the tranny... its fine.

Im not sure if this is something that just happens, or if im being screwed by the dealer... ALL i know is it was fine before i took it in.

Go back to the dealer and start lookin' for heads. That is not right at all.

As for the sound, is it a squeal or a high-pitch grind? When you launch it hard, what happens?

They aren't called stealerships for nothing. Take it back and demand that your items are replaced and they fix the car right.

Sounds like you got screwed twice. You'll be lucky to get any satisfaction from a place like that.

so you guys think its something THEY did, and not just my car being retarded? I had it for a day before this happened. And they didnt put enough miles on it for me to notice. I just dont want to make a fuss if iys not their fault.

Im REALLY afraid to launch it hard... something WILL break, if it hasnt already.

And they gave me an I OWE YOU, but i doubt they will put the same stuff back in. I gotta get part numbers today.

Im afraid to launch it... and in D when i get to about 2k rpms, i think its a squeal. It sounds almost like its rubbing really hard.

I can also feel vibrating from the console...

If i get the car into OD (once im moving) and come start coming to a stop, at about 25mph its like the tranny (or something turning w/ gears) looses contact, and i can no longer get the car to move unless i put it in D. I can feel it slip out of place... Really hard to explain.

Just because there's not a lot of miles doesn't mean that it wasn't abused. Burnouts and doughnuts don't put a lot of miles on the Odo., but are very hard on the car theless. Start getting some heads, that's not right at all. If it wasn't a GM dealership, then take it to one and put it on the other dealerships bill...I'm sure they'll help you out with that.

Explain your situation to the GM dealer you would want to use. You may get an understanding guy and they just might do that. Hey, you never know until you ask, right?

I'm a little foggy on this whole thing. If you sign a purchase agreement, you write the check or get approval for financing, sign all the paperwork and drive off with it, it's impossible to change the price a week later. You bought it, you own it...... unless proof of fraud exists. Something along the order of contract rules and regulations applies here. There is something fishy with the whole thing. I work in sales and do financing....

Thats the thing... it was my first time buying a car, so i didnt get pre-approved. They were supposed to send the infor to my CU (5.5%), but they never did. They wanted me to finance through them... like 8.6% added over $1,500 to the car.

The neon ended up being almost 33k after everything. $23k sticker. Plus the trade in and $2000 check. I was getting BENT

Never ever turn over your keys and take delivery of the new ride until all the paperwork is done. If you do, you can get what you got.

•93’s have a non-electronically controlled 4L60 automatic transmission (internals are swappable with 700R4’s).

•The throttle body in an automatic equipped 93 has a connection for the TV cable. 94+ do not have the connection.

I would check to see if the TV cable is secured to the TB throttle arm. This is what regulates the line pressure for proper shifting.

As far as i knew, once you sign the contract... thats it. We did all that, had the car for a week... then they called me back in and started screwing me over. By the end of it the $23,500 car turned into $33K car. i got to put 1500 miles on the new srt. But i still gotta get this fixed.

I checked the cable when the problem started... its fine. (the one that bolts to the pan). Im wondering if the tanny is just backing away from the engine. If i need to just tighen the bolts. Not sure how they would get loose, but ill try to check tomorrow.
